It’s amazing to me how people are able to tap into their passions and create something magical that in-turn, inspire and move others. This couldn’t be more true than in the case of Janet Kinkade, designer and founder of Jewel Kade.
Recently, my good friend became a Jewel Kade stylist. I was looking a for a nice gift to give to my sister as a graduation gift and that’s how I was first exposed to Janet Kinkade’s jewelry line. You can check out the MLM Reviews menu link for more on my Jewel Kade review. This particular post, however, focuses more on Mrs. Kinkade’s story.
Janet Kinkade is a wife and mother of five. Her very first charms were inspired and conceived as a way to communicate her love for her baby boy, Jack and her four daughters. The “Initials Collection” became a direct derivative of these first charms and quickly gained in popularity. As demand for her hand-made jewelry increased, she began to come up with new design ideas that led to the now hugely popular shadow box and glitter charms, just to name a couple. These, in my opinion, are the true draw to Jewel Kade line.
Once her custom pewter jewelry started to sell out regularly, Janet realized she had a potential hit on her hands. And so, Jewel Kade was officially born in 2008, and went national with it’s multi-level marketing compensation plan in July of 2010. Not too shabby at all.
As an art director and graphic designer myself, I can relate to Janet’s journey and philosophical approach. Her work is inspired greatly in part by the things she loves and cherishes in life and she channels that passion through her talent as a truly gifted and unique designer. It helps that she has a fashion merchandising degree and that she spent years working in the fashion retail industry. But frankly, she probably wouldn’t have needed the background to achieve the success she now enjoys.
When you take a close look at the Jewel Kade line, it’s very evident that every piece is a form of expression that conveys very personal and meaningful experience’s in Janet’s life and surroundings. I think this is why even as a beer-guzzling, football-loving guy, I found the jewelry so appealing and attractive as the perfect gift to my sister.
One of the charms I purchased was beautifully encased in hand-cut glass and framed in a shadow box. One side said, “follow your heart” in a very light, playful type setting, while the other side had a heart shape coated in glitter. Somehow, she managed to design it in such a way that it didn’t look or feel cheap, cheesy or like something out of a teenagers clothing store.
Frankly, I liked the Jewel Kade story so much, I’m fairly certain that I will purchase more of it in the future as gifts to my friends and family. With that said, here’s my one selfish plug by posting the link to my good friend and now popular Jewel Kade stylist’s store front. I think you’ll come away impressed by the diversity, uniqueness and impressive quality of a a jewerly line suitable for any age, taste or situation.
